A Wise referral can involve two separate benefits: an offer for the person joining and a reward for the existing customer who invited them. They do not necessarily qualify at the same time. If you are joining through an invitation
Read the offer before signing up and save its terms. Check the eligible transfer type, covered amount and expiry. Wise’s fee-free transfer guidance describes a single-use benefit applied to the next eligible transfer; amounts beyond the allowance can still attract fees. Before paying, inspect the fee in the transfer summary. Compare the final recipient amount with another current quote if price is the reason you are choosing the service. A discount alone does not establish which provider delivers more money.
If you invited a friend
Check the friend’s status on your invite page and read what counts as a qualifying transfer. In the documented free-transfer programme, same-currency payments, balance conversions and card spending do not qualify for the inviter’s reward. A practical record includes the invitation date, the offer displayed, the friend’s signup status and the reason a transfer has not qualified. Keep private account details out of shared messages.
If the link was missed during signup
Wise says an invitation link can be added within 30 days of signup when someone registered without one. Follow its missed-link instructions promptly; do not assume the window can be extended or an expired offer restored.
